Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Know If This Is For Me?
Love is in the eye of the horse – let me help you see the beauty that horses see in you!
Does something in your life just feel off or feel like it needs to be transformed into something extraordinary?
Here’s the thing: you have all the answers inside you. I just help you access them by unlocking them from the safe space inside you. I understand that this change is important to you and that you are a unique being needing an individual programme.
My coaching approach is specifically designed with you and your change in mind. I promise to listen to what you are saying and to gently challenge any limiting beliefs, if necessary. Interacting with the horse allows you to see yourself as you are. It allows you to actively imagine and play with new possibilities.
When working with horses, reaching your goal (and beyond) suddenly becomes possible, as they are so intuitive. In some ways, it feels so easy that it’s almost magical. The eye of the horse sees you and your true beauty, and you will start to see it too. The transformation is so deeply personal and meaningful that you will feel wowed.
You will leave a session feeling that anything is possible.
What If I’m Scared?
So, you really want to try this coaching with the aid of horses, but you have one big problem – you are scared, perhaps terrified, of horses. What do you do?
My very first time experiencing a coaching session with a horse was like this – I was beyond scared. However, I really wanted to do it. I had a coach who understood and helped me.
I am a coach who understands and will help you too.
First of all, you need to honour yourself and allow yourself the gift of this experience. I promise that I will be with you every step of the way, and you will set the pace.
For many, being afraid of horses is natural, but I can promise you that you will be so glad that you faced your fear and gave yourself this opportunity. The first thing that I would encourage you to do is: Stop. Breathe. Breathe again. I will ask that you be true and honest for the session. If you feel scared, that’s okay. Just be honest. Don’t pretend to not be scared; the horse will pick up on that. You don’t even have to tell me if you are scared, you just need to acknowledge it to yourself.
If entering the pen alone feels daunting, I can enter the pen with you. I can be beside you for as long as you need to feel comfortable, even if it is for the entire session. I can promise you, from my own experience and years of doing this coaching, that you will have a really good session and will leave wanting to take the horse home with you.
Additionally, you will leave, knowing that you have conquered your fears!
Why Horses?
Horses simply do not lie!
A horse’s inherent gentle nature, curiosity, and desire to work within a herd or community will cause it to seek a connection, even with people. Yet, unlike most adults who have been socially trained to form judgments and think in terms of ‘right and wrong’, horses only reflect the truth of the present moment.
Therefore, they will consistently mirror back to a person the effect that their inner dialog is having on them, as well as on others in their surrounding environment. Horses mirror back to you inconsistent behaviours that you may not have been aware of, behaviours that stop you from moving forward in life or from moving deeper into your own authentic spirit. When a horse mirrors back to you how you appear to the world, it’s difficult to miss. Other humans mirror back to us as well, but we have learned how to lie to each other and how to be polite, rather than saying what we really see. Horses just say it like it is.
Horses are remarkable for their ability to give clear, direct, and rapid biofeedback. This feedback enables people to deepen their awareness of themselves. With such a huge, highly sensitive animal that cannot be coaxed or coerced, both positive and negative communication patterns very quickly be-come apparent!
Clients often think that they will witness a unique or surprising side of themselves while trying to interact with a horse. What we have found, however, is that when people are excited, confused, scared, frustrated, or yearning for acceptance, they typically have the same reaction and use the same life coping tools in all situations. So, while they think they are simply interacting with a horse, facilitation helps them identify communication patterns that play out in their friendships, with their intimate partner, or with colleagues at work. As a result, working with horses can shine a spotlight on the key factors preventing clients from forming genuine connections to others and also from establishing a better connection to their own inner truth.
“The way we do anything is the way we tend to do everything.” – Koelle Simpson
We will do activities involving horses, thereby creating metaphors that reflect real life. The approach is non-directive, allowing for opportunities to problem-solve and be creative. All activities are done on the ground, making this coaching accessible to people of all experience levels.
You will be seeing and touching horses, breathing them in, and moving with them on foot. You will be outdoors, in nature, feeling the sun on your face, walking on the earth, and smelling the grass and everyday outdoor smells. All your senses will be involved.
When clients leave a session, they leave with insights that they have learned from the horse, which they can apply immediately to their lives.
What Skills Do I Require?
No skills are required, I just ask that you show up with a willingness to learn about yourself, a readiness to play, and, most importantly, an open mind.
You will have the opportunity to engage with a horse to explore and discover your non-verbal communication and leadership patterns. This is done through a variety of safe and gentle ground activities with no riding involved.
What Do I Need To Bring And Wear?
While not exhaustive, here is a list of items that you should bring with you:
• A hat
• Sunscreen
• Closed shoes
• Comfortable clothes that can get dirty
• A journal and a pen (if you so desire)
• Food or snack for your own consumption
May I Feed The Horses?
No feeding of the horse during the session at all.
Can I Interact With The Horses Outside My Sessions?
Our coaching sessions are designed to provide meaningful and guided interactions with the horses to support your personal growth and learning. Due to the horses being under the care of their owners and the facility’s management, interactions outside of scheduled sessions are not available. This ensures the horses’ well-being and respects the policies of the facility we partner with. If you’re interested in additional time with the horses, please discuss options with us during your session, and we can explore what may be possible within the scope of our program.
